He has been charged with robbery related offenses after a homeowner confronted him when he (Hill) broke into the residence and was in the process of stealing items from inside.

On Monday (11/12) at 7:53 a.m., County Police responded to a residence in the 400 block of W. Hanna Drive, in the community of Piermont Woods, for a report of a burglary that had just occurred. When the officers arrived, they contacted the 61 year old male victim who advised he had just fought with an intruder who had broken into his home. The victim reported he had heard his dog barking in the upstairs area of his home as he noticed his front door was open. The victim walked into his bedroom area and found a male subject rummaging through his belongings. The two then engaged in a physical altercation as they fell down the stairs just before the suspect ran out of the home.

The officers then began searching the area and found several witnesses who reported seeing the suspect driving a maroon SUV in the area. A Delaware State Police officer and his canine partner located the suspect walking on Old Baltimore Pike. The suspect quickly ran off as the trooper attempted to speak to him. Unfortunately for the suspect, the police canine was much faster and was able to apprehend him after a short chase. He was taken into custody and then transported to the Christiana Hospital where he was treated for his bite wounds.

Eric Hill was arrested and charged with robbery, burglary and resisting arrest. Hill was also found to be wanted by the county police for fleeing from police in a stolen car back on August 22, 2007. Additionally, he was charged with receiving stolen property, resisting arrest, disregarding an officers signal and other traffic offenses. He has been arraigned on all of the charges and committed to the Howard Young Prison after failing to post $12,000 secured bail.
